Turning 25 years of corporate leadership and personal resilience into mental infrastructure that sustains you when the climb gets steep.

Feeling burnt out? You need a proven way forward when life and leadership get heavy.

I help you move from exhaustion, grief, or uncertainty into clear, repeatable next steps.

Real leadership resilience isn’t built on pure motivation, but on systems that hold firm when everything else doesn’t.

I’ve spent decades leading teams through high-pressure corporate environments and facing real-life loss. Now, I’ve turned both into frameworks that actually work.
For years, I’ve been running from a book I was terrified to finish. Writing about my father’s suicide meant reliving the hardest day of my life over and over again. But I realized that the “Invisible Inheritance” of mental illness only grows in the dark. It’s time to bring it into the light.
Mark’s Trail is launching soon!
It’s the story of “The Candy Man”, my biggest encourager, a small-town legend, and a man who fought a silent war for 68 years. It’s a journey through his secret journals and the survival map I’ve built to help others avoid the same dark ending.
If you’ve ever felt “broken down,” if you’re a survivor of loss, or if you’re just looking for a reason to keep walking, this book is for you.
Let’s stop keeping our stories silent. Let’s start walking together on this trail we call life.
I’ll see you on the trail! 🌲✨

As a keynote speaker, Monica delivers a powerful convergence of executive strategy and raw, human resilience. Drawing from over two decades of high-level leadership and her personal journey as a suicide survivor, Monica empowers audiences to view their challenges not as finish lines, but as trailheads.

Monica offers transformative team-building workshops that move beyond "checking the box" and into the heart of engaged, positive leadership. Monica doesn't just build teams; she builds Trail Partners who are equipped to navigate the whirlwind of the modern marketplace with empathy and excellence.

Monica’s coaching is a sacred commitment to your growth. She will help you clear the brush, lighten your pack, and find the courage to walk in your true purpose. Because on this trail, you don’t have to hike alone.

With over 25 years of executive leadership experience, Monica Pate has built a career on the belief that the strongest teams are forged through empathy, inclusion, and a positive leadership style. As a high-performance executive, she specializes in driving sustainable results by fostering deeply engaged, empowered cultures that center around connection.
In 2020, Monica’s personal trail took an unexpected turn when she lost her father to suicide. In the wake of that “whirlwind,” she transformed her grief into a global mission for mental wellness and suicide awareness. Today, she is the author of the upcoming book, Mark’s Trail, where she distills her father’s secret journals into a “survival map” for others navigating the dark woods of mental illness.
Monica is the Founder of Trails of Encouragement, a mental wellness movement that has transcended the digital space to become a physical sanctuary: The Brenda Gruenewald Trail of Encouragement in her hometown of Georgiana, Alabama.
Beyond the boardroom and the book, Monica’s heart is at home. She has been married to her biggest encourager, Jimmy, for over 25 years. She is a proud mother to Maddy and Jimmy III, bonus mom to Mariah, and she cherishes her newest role as “YaYa” to her first grandchild, Penelope Mae. When she isn’t leading teams or advocating for wellness, you can find her hiking, traveling the globe, and, you guessed it, finding every possible way to encourage the people around her.
My work is grounded in systems: decision frameworks, communication rhythms, and personal strategies that hold steady when things get hard. It lives in the space between heavy and corporate, offering clear and practical guidance you can put into action right away.
“Mother Nature is the greatest teacher.” — Brenda Gruenewald
Brenda Gruenewald dedicated over 25 years of her life to the students of Georgiana School and the heart of the Butler County School System. She was a woman defined by her passions: a deep love for the outdoors and an unwavering commitment to serving others. Today, that legacy lives on through the Brenda Gruenewald Trail of Encouragement.
Spanning one mile adjacent to Georgiana School, this nature trail is more than just a path through the pines, it is a vital resource for our community. Led by the dedicated efforts of the school administration and our community partners, the trail serves as a living classroom where students and the general public can experience the profound connection between physical exercise and mental wellness.
What’s Next on the Trail: We are currently under construction on a new outdoor classroom, designed to spark creativity and provide a unique sanctuary for learning.
At the Brenda Gruenewald Trail of Encouragement, we aren’t just building a path; we are changing lives, one step at a time.
